Last Monday, 12 December, the winning proposal of the architectural design competition for the construction of the National Centre for Packaging Technologies, which aims to be a European benchmark in R&D&I in the packaging industry, was presented at the Teatro Ideal in Calahorra.
Industry is the second economic strength of La Rioja and the packaging sector is one of the pillars of its Transformation Plan. This Centre is created within the framework of the strategic project “City of Packaging”, promoted by the Government of La Rioja, which aims to promote the transformation of the packaging sector and its value chain through sustainability and digitisation, in order to boost its competitiveness. The Centre will occupy 94,054 square metres in the El Recuenco industrial estate in Calahorra.
The event was presided over by the President of the Government of La Rioja Concepción Andreu Rodríguez, the Government Delegate Beatriz Arraiz and the Mayoress of Calahorra Elisa Garrido, accompanied in the photo by Juan Carlos Calavia, commercial director of our Group. AYRTAC participated in the event as a token of its support and the provision of our knowledge and experience in the development of this exciting project.
The challenges facing the packaging sector are great and AYRTAC is putting all its resources and experience into innovative developments and greater sustainability, implementing new technologies, improving customisation for its customers and greater automation of processes in order to optimise their productivity.
